There are some people who open the fridge and make due with what they have, right? No particular items that may 'bug' them, milk is milk, bread is bread, right?
Apparently Not...
Jason and I buy organic milk. Yes, it's a bit pricer, but we feel it's worth the extra expense. We buy organic whenever we can (with the exception of the $3.50 cucumbers!). In the last 6 months or so we have gone through an incredible amount of milk. We buy the half gallon paper cartons and go through about 6 per week. Yikes, we apparently love our moo-juice. I have mentioned a few times we should buy the gallon milk containers, but Jason has pleaded no due to the 'plastic' containers they come in. Environmental reasons, you ask? Not at all...he says it tastes different, you get a crusty rim around the cap and he's going back old school to the see-through plastic cartons where light got in and took away the vitamins. Yesterday I caved. I'm standing in the dairy aisle and did the math...switching to plastic gallon organic milk vs the half gallon cardboard containers will save us about $250 a year.
Sold. Jason will just have to deal with the crusty tops.
Another table discussion we've had recently...
We will sometimes buy the Hebrew National all Beef hot dogs. What girl doesn't like mac-n-cheese and hot dogs for dinner? I find it very difficult to buy an entire package of hot dog buns when we only use half. Regular bread folded in half does the trick just fine, right?
Apparently Not...
Jason has informed me that hot dog buns 'encompass the entire hot dog so you get bun with every bite'. Taking it a little too far?? I think so, but he's totally disappointed I've denied him hot dog buns with the purchase of hot dogs. The idea of folding up a slice of bread and dousing it in yellow mustard has him in a slump and totally not excited for mac-n-cheese and hot dog night. Hot dog buns are $5 bucks!
I have a budget to keep, ya know?

OMG, we LOVE mac and cheese and hot dogs, too!!! We always eat the Hillshire Farms Cheddarwurst with our mac and cheese though...dang, we're classy!
AND we're milk snobs, too - we don't care how much more it costs, it's soooo worth it!
I wish we lived in the same city, we would be such good buddies!
