Yesterday was 29 weeks! I think hitting the big 30 has me the most excited, but every week is still one week closer for us and one more week to celebrate.
Jason and I went and saw Taken in the theater this weekend. It was good, but what I kept thinking about during the previews and their 'coming soon' dates was, ' by the time these new movies come out the babies will be here'. What a strange feeling. In fact, our organic milk cartons expiration dates are getting close to our due date as well.
My mom has been in town and we've been running around completing errands and it's been so wonderful spending time with her. Today was the ever glamorous task of picking out nursing bras or as I like to call them boulder holders. I've never been one to obsess over bras or my boobs for that matter. There has never been much of anything to obsess over. I'm not jealous of 'what I don't have', what freaks me out is what I'm going to have once my milk comes in!
Goodness...for a good laugh, head to your department store and peruse the maternity section. Can't they make these things a little more....appealing? Seriously, for 9 months you watch your body being taken over by your offspring. You're growing and changing in ways you never thought possible. You offer your body lovingly and fully to the life that is growing inside you. It's your first responsibility as a mother. Then the big moment arrives and you finally have your body back; or do you? I say not, you've just gone from an Easy Bake Oven (I loved those things growing up) to a milk factory. Your breasts are not yours...not in the least. They are timed feeding machines.
I asked to be measured and the assistant told me I was a "C"...ya right...maybe on the bottom half. I was told I should expect to buy a nursing bra one full cup size up. So, you're saying a "D" cup? Are you kidding!? Glorious! I can actually say in my lifetime I wore a "D" cup. For those of us less than ample in the boob category, we have to take our milestones when we can.
So, here I'm thinking "alright! let's pick out some bras!" and then I review the selection. Nothing on the rack that would remotely be used in some sexy fashion. Nothing that would encourage walking around in your underwear showing off your new found 'presents'. I selected a few standards, the every day bra, the exercise bra and the down right comfortable bra. Again, all of which were made with the sole purpose of functionality and not for the appealing factor.
All in all, it was a success. I left with nursing bras, two night shirts that will make breast feeding easy in the hospital and at night and a few long sleeve (on sale) shirts that are actually long enough for this 5'10" torso and growing belly.

OMFG, I'm literally laughing right out loud right now!!!! I guess I'm not too sad that I can't go maternity bra shopping - I'll leave that to my mom! LOL!!!!!
Girl, I can't believe how far along you are! You're so close... oh, and wait till you see those D's... two words: PORN STAR. No joke. :-)
