With my inability to button my pants I've been paying more attention to "belly clothes"...the maternity section. Sticker shock begins with the maternity purchases.
Let's think this through...these clothes are meant for women who are, in most cases, going to reduce their waist line post pregnancy. In other words, these are limited addition clothing to be worn for less than a year.
I ventured into a shop, Hot Mama, the other day in search of jeans. I figure jeans are the staple in anyone's closet and certainly a pregnant woman's closet. It was important to me to get a pair of denim that would last me the pregnancy and be very comfortable.
After reviewing the $98 dollar and $74 dollar t-shirts, I was nervous to flip over the tag on the jeans. Apparently, comfort in pregnancy denim cost $175. Seriously? I don't spend that much on my Seven Jeans I've worn for years!
The jeans are cute and I'll admit, I'll probably wear them multiple times a week throughout this pregnancy. If I break it down to a cost per day basis....well, maybe I can justify this splurge.

I boycotted maternity clothes. Such a waste for a few months! However, with a double sized belly, you'll definitely need them! Oh my, I can't wait until you start posting picts of your oven. :-)
I think it's about time for some bump pics, Alexis! And thanks for making me realize that I *need* some designer maternity jeans, too!
