1st OB Appointment Done

Jason and I met with Dr. G this afternoon. I had my list of questions in hand. Basically, I can ask a million questions and a million more will stem from that. I just have to trust the guidance I receive will let me know if there is anything to be concerned about. One can seriously drive themselves nuts with everything out there warning of risks and must do's, not to mention don't do's.

We discussed testing options. Dr. G feels with everything we went through to get here, the risk isn't worth the testing. He mentioned that with twins, the results can be misleading because the technology isn't quite there for the twins. Come down to it, if we are given a child with special needs there is nothing we'd change than what we're doing now. Sure it would be nice to "know", but if the results come back with a gray area I'll be worrying and under stress for the next 25 weeks.

We heard the heartbeats today! Wow...first time we've actually heard them beating. One was faster than the other. Hmmmm, girl and boy? They are both still going strong and Dr. G said everything looked great. He measured my uterus and he said I'm about 20 inches right now...putting my uterus at my belly button. I said, "Um ya...that's why I can't button my pants already!". He proceeded to say I'll probably peak at 38 inches....excuse what? lol...can't wait for that belly picture to be posted!

My new "due date" is April 4th. That's if I go the full 38 weeks with twins. He said I'll most likely go at 36 weeks...putting me into March. I guess I'll just have to take it one week at a time. I asked about the risks he was concerned about and he said the only one I should be concern with is pre-term labor. I can handle that....

Looks like our plans for a family shower in Washington is nixed. He doesn't want me traveling. Period. I have to play Thanksgiving in Arizona by ear as well. He'll check my cervix the week before we leave and let me know if we can go.

I go back in 4 weeks for another check up.

Yay for heartbeats. One of the best things you can hear, in my opinion! I still can't believe you're having two! :-) Cute belly, still looking pretty flat if you ask me!

Awww, sounds like your first appointment went great! I don't blame you for opting out of the tests...
