RLP

RLP? Never heard of it..until it actually had me thinking I was going to miscarry! Sunday night I was getting up from the couch and felt the most intense pain. I couldn't breath, walk, talk. In a panic I told Jason something wasn't right. I laid back down...as still as can be. I didn't know what to think. We actually contemplated going to the emergency room. I figured I could make it through the night and I'd call the doctor first thing Monday morning.

Meanwhile, I slept horrible from not only the pain, but the worry that something was terribly wrong. I seriously can't explain the pain I was feeling.

Monday morning I called the doctor and explained my 'symptoms' and almost immediately I had my answer:

Dr: you have RLP
Me: excuse me, What?
Dr: Round Ligament Pain
Me: what is the Round Ligament
Dr: The ligament that supports your uterus. Under all the stress and stretching your uterus goes though, especially with twins this ligament can be snapped like a rubber band and be quite painful.
Me: ya think?
Dr: Take tylenol when you need to and you may want to invest in a maternity belt
Me: what the heck is a maternity belt (I'm clueless)
Dr: you can find it at most baby stores or online, but it helps takes the weight off the uterus and back.

So off I went to google search my way into the land of maternity belts. Needless to say they range in style and price. Some can be quite the contraption! One actually made me laugh out loud it looked so ridiculous and I've attached the picture so you can have a laugh too.

Of course, there are more tamed maternity belts out there....I think I'll try one of those out instead. In the meantime, I've had only minor episodes of RLP since Sunday...in fact, my siatic nerve pain on the other side of my body has pulled into the lead of discomfort.

If this is all I complain about...I'm in good shape.

Yes, the RLP... good times. And the siatic...urgh, it was HORRIBLE with my first! The second those babies are born, though, it dissapears, insane! Please wear the belt OVER your clothes as it will look outstanding!
