Egg Retrieval Done!

Why is it when you have to catch a flight, have an early appointment or perhaps get your eggs retrieved you wake up at LEAST 2 hours before you need to wake up?

Jason and I headed off to Woodbury this morning to find out once and for all how many eggs we've managed to produced over the last three weeks. The staff are so nice and comforting. I felt nervous, but overall just excited to learn the results.

Jason was a gem and slipped on his booties and followed me into the procedure room. I remember winking at him and then waking back up in the recovery room. There were a few giggles when I woke up initially apparently because the first thing that came out of my mouth was that I wanted to go get Chipotle. I guess I was pretty hungry after not eating since 7pm the previous day!

I had 11 follicles and out of those 11, 9 of them produced eggs. Whew! They performed ICSI which is where they literally take a hold of the egg and then inject one sperm into the egg for fertilization. Now, it's a three day waiting game to learn if the eggs were "good eggs" and are progressing into multiple cells. They may not all fertilize the way they should, but our hope is to have 2 good cells for the transfer this week and then to have some eggs survive the freezing process.

I start the injectable progesterone tomorrow night...my favorite, intramuscular...3 inch needles. I'll continue on these every day until the dr tells me otherwise.

Say some prayers for those eggs!
