All Systems Go!

Yesterday was the big baseline ultrasound to make sure the Lupron has been doing its job...making my ovaries quiet. My ovaries were/are polycystic which means they basically look like they have potholes all over them. A reproductive land mine of fluid filled sacs...sounds lovely, doesn't it?

I knew I had a problem with (PCOS) cysts last January when a baseline ultrasound (just like yesterday) showed one the size of a golf ball...and it was the third cycle it happened in...and the reason for canceled IUI cycles before that. Dr. G scheduled exploratory surgery in March to try and find the cause of the cyst. Finding mild damage to the every so delicate fallopian tubes, most likely caused by my appendectomy in the 80's, everything else looked "great and there is no reason we aren't getting pregnant". What do you say to that?....exactly.

To start the IVF process they had to make my ovaries dormant (quiet). Birth control pills and Lupron are the drugs of choice. Started July 8th, the Lupron has been working its magic and, for now, decreasing the cysts on my ovaries. I will continue Lupron throughout the process.

The ultrasound yesterday was perfect. My ovaries are clear, blood work came back great and we're all systems go to begin our injectable stimulant medications starting Saturday morning.

What does this all mean? I'll continue with the Lupron and we'll add into the mix menopur and bravelle via injection and 6 pills daily. Jason even has his own protocol, 1 pill twice daily, and this is to keep our bodies free of virus'..

It's a relief to know we're moving forward and the ever so lovely "lady ovaries" are cooperating.
