Nursery....Check!

24 1/2 Week Belly Glory

Honestly, I think I could quite possibly sit in the nursery for hours just rocking away on my ever so plush custom glider. Maybe it's my view of the window with the large Willow trees in focus or maybe it's the adorable chandelier that makes me take deep breaths and just relax. The thought that in a couple short months this nursery will hold its purpose has me excited beyond measure.

Just a week ago this room was a far cry from looking anything like a nursery, but now it has to be my favorite room in the house. I wanted to design a theme that was great for both boys and girls. I had my ideas and as soon as we found out Wyatt and Evie were on their way just before Thanksgiving I knew exactly what we were going to do...Giraffes!

I researched online for wall decals, the bedding fell into place next and frankly, I couldn't have designed more perfect bedding for this theme and overall decor. I came across the adorable big legged giraffe stuffed animals and couldn't pass them up, they were perfect. And of course, my green and clear crystal chandelier....a must have for this room to give it the final touch. The room looks so soft and warm at night lit by only the chandelier...I love it.

The wall art frames and diaper stacker are hung by cupboard knobs I found at Home Depot. I had specific colors for wall decals I wanted to use, so we painted wall sections where the decals would go then after everything dried we placed the decals over the colored paint (paint colors are Taupe, Orange, Brown and Light Blue). From there we primed and painted the entire room Taupe. After this dried it was time to peel off the decals to reveal the color behind them. Jason and I had to go back and do some touch ups on the decals and overall it was a bit of work, but seriously...it was worth it. They turned out amazing: Giraffe, Tree, Butterfly, Owl on a branch and finally Three Birds sitting on a clothes pin wire. The only thing not in the photos are the matching giraffe musical mobiles (I'm putting those up tomorrow). I'm pretty excited how everything turned out and I'm thrilled the room is finished (complete with a pretty full closet of clothes too!). It's amazing how two cribs, a changer, a dresser and a glider quickly fill up the space, but we made it work.

We're almost 25 weeks and we're doing great. In the mornings my blissful daughter is very active so Jason and I usually watch my stomach move like popcorn popping. It's quite the show and she never disappoints. Wyatt is still as active as ever throughout the day, but mostly after I eat and he still likes to punch/kick downward.

Enjoy the nursery pics!

Oh my gosh, your nursery is absolutely adorable!!!! What a fantastic idea to paint the space where the decals would go and then paint over them - I would have NEVER thought of that (and may just steal the idea)! I cannot WAIT until our cribs and glider come in to complete our nursery. What a wonderful way to start off the new year for you two!
